9 months old, an ear infection and a bad-mommy moment

Levi,

You had a rough day yesterday, even though it was your 9 month birthday. You had your checkup with Dr K. I think you are going to grow up and hate him. Every time you see him, he cleans out your ears and you usually get a shot. Well, I mentioned in your last post that you have been fighting your bottles and fussy lately. Mama thought this was because of your teeth, well, turns out you have your 1st ear infection. A double ear infection. I felt so guilty that I didn't catch on to the symptoms. You never ran a fever, you only had a runny nose for the last couple of days, and you never tugged at your ears or anything. So, anyway, you are on your 1st antibiotic. Let's hope it helps you to feel better and Mommy didn't cause any permanent damage for missing your pain and suffering.

Your stats are:

22 lb 1 oz (75%)
29.25" long (82%)
47.2 cm sized noggin (93%) If your head size is any indication of how smart you will be, we have big expectations, buddy! :)

Dr K said that other than your ear infection, you are healthy and right on track. He was impressed, once again, at how strong you are when you don't want to be held down. I have to hold your torso and arms while he cleans all your ear wax out every appointment...you can thank Daddy for the excessive ear wax ;) You handled your shot pretty good though.

So, your Momma has been officially taken off the Mom of the Year list. When we got home from Dr K's, I accidentally locked you in the car. You didn't even notice. I think you were so worn out from the appointment, that you just played with your blankie for a bit, and then dozed off to dreamland. I felt horrible. Daddy had to leave work and come all the way home to rescue you. I was so proud of you that you didn't cry or fuss at all, and you looked pretty comfortable, even though when we got you out, you were sweaty. I hope that this is the 1st and last stupid thing that I do with you, but I'm guessing that since you are my 1st baby, it probably won't be. I do know, that now, I am going to be much more aware of where my car keys are when you are still in the car. No promises, but I will try hard to have it not happen again.

One other thing, you have broken Daddy's heart. You started crying every time that Daddy drops you off at daycare last Monday. What this means, aside from heavy Daddy guilt, is that Daddy will probably not be visiting you on his lunch hours anymore, or at least not for awhile. You used to spend a lot of time with Dada during his lunch break. You would eat lunch with him, go for walks, spend time in the park areas downtown and people watch. Daddy is really going to miss these times with you, but your teachers recommend that he not visit until you are past this phase. I hope it is soon, because it is hard for us to think of you crying because you are missing us.

Here's your "9 month" picture with Fifi!

Love, Mama
